SAP has announced a new collaborative cloud service called Stream Work. The product has a unique benefit of being able to connect directly in with the decision tools in SAP and Business Objects, while adding collaborative features such as online meetings tools, document sharing, and user profiles and communication tools.
Information Week on StreamWork notes interestingly that SAP has partnered with some innovating open source partners in the development of the project, including Box.net. Scrib'd, and Evernote. By combining agile programming methods and best of breed open source partnerships, the devopment of StreamWorks was achieved in a compressed amount of time.
This is an interesting example of collaborative tools that will appeal to top level management of companies heavily invested in SAP's products. By hooking into decision alaysis, reporting, and auditing tools in SAP, I can see a sucessful use case for this product that would take off right at the C level of corporate management. Smart.
